CHAPTER THIRTEEN

Tamsin woke with a start.

She must have drifted off. The pregnancy had been giving her some very vivid nightmares and the only thing that could make her feel better was Darcy wrapping her up in her arms and soothing her back to sleep.

“Darcy,” Tamsin said, reaching over to find her wife’s side of the bed empty. Remembering Darcy had to go to the academy, Tamsin decided to reach out to her mate through their bond.

Except something was wrong.

Darcy wasn’t answering. Something was preventing her from doing so.

The druid pulled herself out of bed as quickly as possible and started pulling on her clothes. She needed to get to the academy, she needed to help Darcy.

She had only just found a pair of shoes she could slip on when her cell phone rang. She answered without really looking to see who was calling, “Darcy?”

“Wrong sister,” Ceri replied. “Is she okay? Did she hit her head?”

Tamsin explained the call from the school security officer and how Darcy had left to help.

“Somethings definitely wrong,” Ceri said. “Make sure you’re locked in the house.”

“I have to go to her.”

“No, she’d kill me if she found out I let you go into a dangerous situation.”

“But-”

“As your pack leader, I’m ordering you to lock yourself in the house.”

Tamsin stopped her movement. Pack magic was preventing her from disobeying Ceridwen’s order. “Damn it.”

“We’re on our way now,” Tamsin could hear rustling over the phone. No doubt Ceri and Patrick throwing a bag together for Alec. “I’m sending Mum and Da over to your house. Only let them in if they use the code.”

“Okay,” Tamsin said, defeated.

“I know,” Ceri told her friend. “I’m worried about her too.”
